The national fuel average is WHAT?

With the national diesel fuel average hovering around the $4.60 per gallon mark there is one question on everyone’s mind. How can I save money on diesel fuel? Below you will find a list we have compiled of a couple ways you can improve your fuel mileage.

- Keep your tires properly inflated-you lose 0.05% of your mileage for every pound per square inch that your tires are under-inflated.
- Drive 60 miles per hour or below-every 5 miles per hour over costs you 20 cents per mile extra.
- Give your truck a tune up-you can improve fuel mileage by up to 4%.
- Replace your air filter-clean air filters increase driving distance by up to 10%.
- Avoid rush hour traffic-stop and go traffic isn’t only frustrating, it’s bad for your fuel mileage.
- Purchase fuel (fill up) during the coolest time of the day-this is when the fuel will be the most dense (pumps measure in volume not density).
- Make sure your fuel cap is tight-one study shows approximately 147 million gallons of fuel evaporate each year.
- Reduce your idling time whenever possible.

We know its tough out there, but hopefully these tips will help keep you loaded and on the road.

Thanks as always for stopping by!

Best,
GLA
